Maui and the Sun

We have been learning about Maori Myths and Legends. We read Maui and the Sun and talked about the problem, solution and characters. We then created a brainstorm of the events in the story and used this to help us write our own stories of Maui and the Sun. Using iMovie, we recorded our stories for you to enjoy. Check out the links to some of our stories online...

Making movies...

WALT use ipads to support our learning.

Mrs Broughton has taught us how to use iMovie. We wrote questions about sea creatures and used the ipads to find information to help answer our key questions. Next we recorded our findings using iMovie.

Home Learning

This week our home learning challenge was all about getting in the kitchen and cooking! We had to find a recipe to read (this is called a procedure). Next we followed the steps to do our cooking. Some of the recipes had fractions that we had to read and measure. Other recipes had ingredients that we had to weigh out (what a fun way to learn maths!)

The students in Room 15 made all sorts of delicious things. Anika made a yummy chocolate cake and bought it to school to share with the class! Bronson made dinner for his family, they had scrumptious pizzas. He took some pictures of his work in the kitchen for us to see too. Don't they look amazing!

ANZAC Writing

Here are some of our post card stories:

Dear Mum and Dad,

I am in Gallipoli. I am scared and worried because I am a soldier. Some people have died in the war. I am super scared because I have to fight. I am sorry I came Mum and Dad. I hope I come back home.

From Olivia.

Dear Mum and Dad,

I am in Gallipoli on the other side of the world. I am scared, all these people are fighting the soldiers from our country. I hope I see you soon.

From Matt.

Dear Mum and Dad,

I have landed in Gallipoli on the other side of the world. I am frightened and worried. I am starving and dehydrated. I wish I could be home but I can't.

Love Maia.

We have been learning about ANZAC day. Today we published our postcards that we wrote. We had to pretend that we were soldiers fighting in the war. We wrote postcards home to our friends or families telling them about our experiences. Here is a photo of the front of some of our postcards. We will post some of our stories for you to read too.

WALT: SKIP! Skipping is good for our hearts because it gets them pumping and working hard. Skipping is fun. We are learning to skip because we have a skip-athon coming up. The skip-athon is to raise money for the heart foundation.

Here are some of our photos of us skipping today.

Creative Fish

We wrote stories about fish that we created. We then published our stories using Scribble Press and Pic Collage. Have a look at some of our writing and tell us what you think...
